It might happen that your desktop or laptop shutdowns with the opening of the startup menu which is a very disgusting thing to be facing at each and every moment in one's life. You are at a loss and won't have any idea as to what caused the computer to reboot. The thing is that most of the Windows operating system are programmed in such a manner that they would automatically restart upon facing a critical or serious error because that is the best way to handle it. However if such a kind of thing occurs the user has no idea as to what went wrong and why did the computer shutdown. In order to prevent the operating system so that it does not restart computer when in the computer startup one needs to change a system setting. In your case when the computer restarts on the startup menu, what you need to do is ensure booting the computer on the safe mode.

To do this you need to restart your computer and keep pressing F8 till a boot options screen appears on the computer. Once this appears you will have to choose Safe Mode and press enter. However you can get to your Windows normally, then you need to go to the My Computer option in the desktop and right click on it and go to properties. From there you have to click Advanced System Settings if you are using Vista which appears on the right side of the Window. Then you have to move to the Advanced and click upon Settings which is present in the Startup and Recover section. From here upon you can remove the cause of your worry altogether and for that you will just have to uncheck the Automatically restart option which is present in the System Failure section and just uncheck it. Next time the system faces a problem you will receive an error code instead of the computer restarting which you can provide online and get solutions from the Internet to resolve the issue.
